# My journey so far

Growing up, I was always curious about how things worked โ€“ especially computers. That curiosity led me to pursue a **Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Technology** from the College of Engineering and Management, Kolaghat, where I dove into programming and began to understand the power of code.

From there, my professional journey took flight, starting as a **Programmer Analyst** at Cognizant Technology Solutions in Kolkata. Those early years were humbling and transformative, pushing me to learn quickly and adapt. Over the years, I moved between companies like **HCL Technologies**, **Oracle India Pvt. Ltd.**, and **GE Renewable Energy**, each role sharpening my skills and deepening my understanding of software engineering. I worked my way up to my current position as a **Cloud Developer III** at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Bengaluru, where Iโ€™m able to leverage my experience across Java, Python, C#, and recently, Rust.

## Crafting Ideas Outside of Work

With a solid foundation in software engineering, I've had the opportunity to:

- Author **"Build Your Own Neural Network"** โ€” a published book guiding readers through building neural networks from scratch using Python and math fundamentals.
- Develop a [machine learning library](https://github.com/Palash90/iron_learn) in Rust as a personal project.
- Implement parts of a [distributed system](https://github.com/Palash90/dist-fs) inspired by the Google File System.
- Implement a fully audio video synchronized [tab viewer](https://palashkantikundu.in/content/ode-to-joy).
- Build various **React.js-based games**, blending my love for logic and creativity.
  - A fun [HDL Emulator](https://emulator.palashkantikundu.in/) to create simple digital components from basic gates
  - An [Arithmatic Quiz](https://palashkantikundu.in/#/component/math-study) for my kids
  - A time pass [Tic Tac Toe](https://palashkantikundu.in/#/component/tic-tac-slide) innovation, for added fun on classic tic-tac-toe

I take pride in contributing to the community by sharing my knowledge through blogs and engaging with fellow engineers. **Rust**, **System design** and **distributed systems** are my areas of interest, and I enjoy dissecting complex problems to arrive at effective solutions.

## Code and Chords

> "Software Engineering is what I do for a living, music is what I do to live."

While engineering is my career, music is my therapy. Somewhere along the way, I picked up a guitalele, and it became more than a hobby โ€“ it was a way to express creativity and relax. Today, I share that passion on my YouTube channel, creating tutorials for fellow guitalele enthusiasts. This balance of tech and music keeps me grounded and reminds me that there's more to life than lines of code.
